Kris Tingelstad, Assistant Coach, High School

Kris began coaching as a high school student, assisting his mom with coaching his younger sisters in grade school basketball. Over the years he’s remained involved in coaching at various levels and sports, all the way up to high school select traveling teams in basketball and lacrosse.

Growing up he played sports year round at both a competitive and recreational level. He focused most of his energy and abilities on basketball, but he’s also played football, baseball, and track & field. These days, he continues to play basketball and flag football socially and to coach basketball at his church.

Kris has the following story to tell about listening to your inner voice, both on and off the field. Once, when driving home from a date one evening, and he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. Some internal directive made him decide to turn his car around and take a closer look. To his surprise and shock, he came upon a house that was on fire. When he realized what he was seeing, he raced his car to the front of the house, and asked his date to call 911. No one responded when he knocked on the front door, so he went to where the fire was located, threw what debris he could away from the house, and did his best to put out the flames. By the time the fire department had arrived; the fire was out, a neighbor had come to assist, and he was in need of a new shirt.
