Mary Hutson, Website Content Manager
Mary Hutson thinks that older girls should be encouraged to try new sports. She grew up in a cornfield in Indiana, shooting basketballs in the driveway (pretending to be Michael Jordan) and hitting a tennis ball against the garage door over and over (pretending to be Billie Jean King beating Bobby Riggs).
She didn’t have her first organized team sport experience until middle school, and then she made up for it by playing softball, basketball, volleyball, and golf all the way through high school. Her letterman’s jacket has stripes up and down both arms. What she loved so much about team sports was the camaraderie and friendships she developed with other girls on the team–and the sense of power you feel when you compete and win.
She is a member of the Board and the Website Content Manager for Bellevue East Lacrosse. She has two daughters, is married to her high-school sweetheart, and is learning to become a long-distance runner.
